Where Morristown players train, and when

The local season, the programs players come up through, and how private coaching fits around them.

Morristown sits at the center of one of New Jersey's busiest lacrosse corridors, where youth clubs, competitive high school programs, and regional travel teams give players a clear path from recreation to the NJSIAA tournament.

How players come up here

The programs a Morristown player moves through, youngest first.

  1. PreK through grade 2

    First steps in rec lacrosse

The Morristown Lady Colonials run a PreK through 2nd grade clinic, and the Junior Colonials welcome boys from Morristown, Morris Township, and Morris Plains into a volunteer-run program. Registration opens in November, and the season begins in March, giving young players a structured introduction before they move into competitive play.

  2. Grades 3 through 8

    Travel and league competition

Boys town programs compete in the North Jersey Junior Lacrosse League through 8th grade, with Randolph among its top-division winners. Lady Colonials travel teams run 3rd through 8th grade in the New Jersey Junior Girls Lacrosse League. Both leagues run March through late May or mid-June, building skills and game experience before high school.

  3. High school

    NJSIAA spring season

Practices open in March, league games run through May under the Northwest Jersey Athletic Conference, and the NJSIAA state tournament runs from late May into early June. Chatham, Randolph, Mendham, West Morris, Morris Knolls, Madison, and Mountain Lakes are among the programs that reach the tournament regularly in both boys and girls draws.

  4. Summer and fall

    Club and travel play

Tri-State Lacrosse, a family-run New Jersey club with roots in the Ridgewood High School program, offers travel teams, camps, and clinics for boys across the region. Club and travel tournaments run on weekends through the summer and fall, keeping competitive players active well outside the NJSIAA spring season.

Can I pick the coach I want?

STXZ matches you with an independent coach based on your location, the player's level, position, and goals. You review that coach's profile by email first and can request a different match before anything is billed.

Is this a fit for a brand-new player in Morristown?

Yes. Tell STXZ where your player is starting so the match accounts for their level. Beginners work on catching, cradling, and ground balls; experienced players focus on their position.

When do I actually pay?

Once you approve a match and agree on a start date, your invoice arrives by email. It is due in full at least five days before the first lesson. Registration itself requires no payment.

What does it cost in Morristown?

Rates are per lesson and set for your zip code. Packages of 6 and 12 lessons lower the per-lesson rate, and the booking app accepts any count from 1 to 18. There is a one-time $20 service fee per player.

What if the first session is not a fit?

Contact STXZ within seven days of that lesson and choose a rematch with another coach at no additional charge or a refund of the lesson fees paid. The service fee is not refundable.

Where can we train, and what should we bring?

A backyard, park, or school field within the coach's travel radius, arranged directly with your coach. Bring your stick, protective equipment, and water. Indoor or paid facility charges are yours to cover.

Who are the coaches in Morristown?

Independent contractors on the STXZ roster, not STXZ employees. Each passes a criminal background check and completes STXZ safety and conduct training before taking a first lesson. Coaching and playing history is provided by the coach, and clients are responsible for vetting their matched coach before booking.
