How players come up here

The programs a Wharton player moves through, youngest first.

  1. PreK through grade 8

    Rec and youth league entry

Boys in the Wharton area enter organized play through town rec programs that feed the North Jersey Junior Lacrosse League, which covers northern New Jersey through 8th grade. Girls follow a parallel track in the New Jersey Junior Girls Lacrosse League, with a full travel season running from 3rd grade through the end of May.

  2. Middle school

    League play before high school

The NJJLL gives boys a competitive ladder with divisional play through 8th grade, and Randolph, just two miles away, has won its top division. Girls continue in the New Jersey Junior Girls Lacrosse League. This is the stage where players from Wharton start separating themselves heading into high school tryouts.

  3. High school

    NJSIAA spring season

Under the NJSIAA, practices open in March, league games run through May in the Northwest Jersey Athletic Conference, and the state tournament closes in early June. Morris Knolls and Morris Hills are among the area programs that compete at the tournament level, and Mountain Lakes is a consistent small-school force in both the boys and girls draws.

  4. Summer and fall

    Club and travel competition

After the high school season closes, players from Wharton can pursue club and travel play through organizations like Tri-State Lacrosse, which runs travel teams, camps, and clinics for boys across the region. Tournament weekends fill the summer and fall calendar and keep development moving through the off-season.

Talk to the STXZ team
Can I pick the coach I want?

STXZ matches you with an independent coach based on your location, the player's level, position, and goals. You review that coach's profile by email first and can request a different match before anything is billed.

Is this a fit for a brand-new player in Wharton?

Yes. Tell STXZ where your player is starting so the match accounts for their level. Beginners work on catching, cradling, and ground balls; experienced players focus on their position.

When do I actually pay?

Once you approve a match and agree on a start date, your invoice arrives by email. It is due in full at least five days before the first lesson. Registration itself requires no payment.

What does it cost in Wharton?

Rates are per lesson and set for your zip code. Packages of 6 and 12 lessons lower the per-lesson rate, and the booking app accepts any count from 1 to 18. There is a one-time $20 service fee per player.

What if the first session is not a fit?

Contact STXZ within seven days of that lesson and choose a rematch with another coach at no additional charge or a refund of the lesson fees paid. The service fee is not refundable.

Where can we train, and what should we bring?

A backyard, park, or school field within the coach's travel radius, arranged directly with your coach. Bring your stick, protective equipment, and water. Indoor or paid facility charges are yours to cover.

Who are the coaches in Wharton?

Independent contractors on the STXZ roster, not STXZ employees. Each passes a criminal background check and completes STXZ safety and conduct training before taking a first lesson. Coaching and playing history is provided by the coach, and clients are responsible for vetting their matched coach before booking.
