Where Madison players train, and when

The local season, the programs players come up through, and how private coaching fits around them.

Madison's lacrosse players move through a full rec-to-high-school pipeline in Morris County, with the NJSIAA spring season and summer club play keeping the game going nearly year-round.

How players come up here

The programs a Madison player moves through, youngest first.

  1. PreK to grade 8

    Rec and town entry programs

Madison's town rec program gives younger players their first structured lacrosse experience, feeding into the North Jersey Junior Lacrosse League for boys and the New Jersey Junior Girls Lacrosse League for girls. Both leagues run from March or April through mid-June, giving players a full spring season before they reach the middle school level.

  2. Middle school

    League play through 8th grade

Boys continue in the North Jersey Junior Lacrosse League through 8th grade, competing against town programs across northern New Jersey. Girls play in the New Jersey Junior Girls Lacrosse League on a similar March-to-May schedule. This is the stage where players start to separate by skill and often add private coaching ahead of high school tryouts.

  3. High school

    Madison High School NJSIAA season

Madison High School competes in the NJSIAA spring season under the Northwest Jersey Athletic Conference. Practices open in March, league games run through April and May, and state tournament play begins in late May and finishes in early June. The program shares a competitive bracket with Chatham, Mendham, Randolph, and other Morris County regulars.

  4. Summer and fall

    Club and travel tournament play

After the NJSIAA season closes, Madison players who want competitive reps turn to club and travel programs like Tri-State Lacrosse, which runs regional travel teams, camps, and clinics for boys across northern New Jersey. Weekend tournaments fill the summer and fall calendar, keeping players sharp through the off-season.

Where private coaching fits

How families in and around Madison use an independent coach.

When families book

Most Madison families book a coach in January or February before spring tryouts, or over the summer before club tournaments begin. Coaches travel directly to the family, so no commute or facility booking is needed.

Fields families use

Your backyard, a local park, or your club's field: you and your coach settle it directly, anywhere inside their travel radius.

Can I pick the coach I want?

STXZ matches you with an independent coach based on your location, the player's level, position, and goals. You review that coach's profile by email first and can request a different match before anything is billed.

Is this a fit for a brand-new player in Madison?

Yes. Tell STXZ where your player is starting so the match accounts for their level. Beginners work on catching, cradling, and ground balls; experienced players focus on their position.

When do I actually pay?

Once you approve a match and agree on a start date, your invoice arrives by email. It is due in full at least five days before the first lesson. Registration itself requires no payment.

What does it cost in Madison?

Rates are per lesson and set for your zip code. Packages of 6 and 12 lessons lower the per-lesson rate, and the booking app accepts any count from 1 to 18. There is a one-time $20 service fee per player.

What if the first session is not a fit?

Contact STXZ within seven days of that lesson and choose a rematch with another coach at no additional charge or a refund of the lesson fees paid. The service fee is not refundable.

Where can we train, and what should we bring?

A backyard, park, or school field within the coach's travel radius, arranged directly with your coach. Bring your stick, protective equipment, and water. Indoor or paid facility charges are yours to cover.

Who are the coaches in Madison?

Independent contractors on the STXZ roster, not STXZ employees. Each passes a criminal background check and completes STXZ safety and conduct training before taking a first lesson. Coaching and playing history is provided by the coach, and clients are responsible for vetting their matched coach before booking.
