Where Camden players train, and when

The local season, the programs players come up through, and how private coaching fits around them.

Camden players are three miles from one of the country's deepest lacrosse markets, with NJSIAA spring competition, regional club programs, and year-round training opportunities all within easy reach.

How players come up here

The programs a Camden player moves through, youngest first.

  1. Grades K to 2

    Early skills and intramural play

Many towns around the Philadelphia hub run kindergarten through 2nd grade intramural or clinic programs, and some field teams in the Delaware Valley Lacrosse League. These entry-level programs give Camden-area children a low-pressure first look at the game before moving into structured league competition.

  2. Grades 3 to 8

    Rec and travel league seasons

Boys in grades 3 through 8 compete in the Southeastern Pennsylvania Youth Lacrosse Association, and girls in the same grades compete in the Philadelphia Area Girls Lacrosse Association. Both leagues run mid-March through late May, with one weekend game and two weeknight practices each week.

  3. High school

    NJSIAA spring season

High school lacrosse in New Jersey runs under the NJSIAA on a spring schedule that mirrors Pennsylvania, with league games from late March through mid-May and postseason rounds extending into June. Camden-area players step into this competitive environment after building their skills in youth and middle school programs.

  4. Summer and fall

    Club, travel, and indoor training

Club and travel programs including Mesa, Team TEN, Dynasty Elite and Forge Lacrosse Club hold tryouts in June and July, with weekend tournaments running through the summer. Fall ball and winter box and indoor clinics from December through February keep players active and ready for the next spring season.

Where private coaching fits

How families in and around Camden use an independent coach.

When families book

Families preparing for NJSIAA tryouts most often reach out in January and February, then again in June ahead of club tryout weekends. Coaches travel directly to the family, so no facility commute is required.

Fields families use

Your backyard, a local park, or your club's field: you and your coach settle it directly, anywhere inside their travel radius.

Can I pick the coach I want?

STXZ matches you with an independent coach based on your location, the player's level, position, and goals. You review that coach's profile by email first and can request a different match before anything is billed.

Is this a fit for a brand-new player in Camden?

Yes. Tell STXZ where your player is starting so the match accounts for their level. Beginners work on catching, cradling, and ground balls; experienced players focus on their position.

When do I actually pay?

Once you approve a match and agree on a start date, your invoice arrives by email. It is due in full at least five days before the first lesson. Registration itself requires no payment.

What does it cost in Camden?

Rates are per lesson and set for your zip code. Packages of 6 and 12 lessons lower the per-lesson rate, and the booking app accepts any count from 1 to 18. There is a one-time $20 service fee per player.

What if the first session is not a fit?

Contact STXZ within seven days of that lesson and choose a rematch with another coach at no additional charge or a refund of the lesson fees paid. The service fee is not refundable.

Where can we train, and what should we bring?

A backyard, park, or school field within the coach's travel radius, arranged directly with your coach. Bring your stick, protective equipment, and water. Indoor or paid facility charges are yours to cover.

Who are the coaches in Camden?

Independent contractors on the STXZ roster, not STXZ employees. Each passes a criminal background check and completes STXZ safety and conduct training before taking a first lesson. Coaching and playing history is provided by the coach, and clients are responsible for vetting their matched coach before booking.
