Where Forest Park players train, and when

The local season, the programs players come up through, and how private coaching fits around them.

Forest Park players build their game around trips north to Atlanta's rec leagues and clubs, since the sport's deepest roots sit in the northern suburbs rather than Clayton County itself.

How players come up here

The programs a Forest Park player moves through, youngest first.

  1. PreK to grade 8

    Rec entry through youth leagues

Forest Park families typically start with programs like Surge Lacrosse, which runs a K to 8th grade rec league in Atlanta alongside its Surge Select travel option, giving younger players a straightforward first step before middle school.

  2. Middle school

    Feeder teams and fall divisions

Middle schoolers mostly play through high school district feeder programs and age-group teams, and the Atlanta Lacrosse League adds fall middle school divisions, so Forest Park players often connect with whichever nearby feeder squad lines up with their eventual high school.

  3. High school

    GHSA season, January to May

The GHSA sanctions boys and girls lacrosse across three divisions, with practice opening in mid-January, matches beginning in early February, and state finals in mid-May, the same structure Forest Park high schoolers follow into playoffs.

  4. Summer and fall

    Club travel and fall ball

Once the high school season ends, players move into club and travel with teams such as Team 91 Georgia, Dirty Birds, Atlanta Aces, or Atlanta Surge Select, then shift into fall ball from September to November before winter box play.

Where private coaching fits

How families in and around Forest Park use an independent coach.

When families book

Summer brings a second wave of bookings once club tryouts wrap and before fall ball starts, and winter sees another push before GHSA practice opens in January. The coach travels to the family, so no field or facility is needed in Forest Park.

Fields families use

Your backyard, a local park, or your club's field: you and your coach settle it directly, anywhere inside their travel radius.

Can I pick the coach I want?

STXZ matches you with an independent coach based on your location, the player's level, position, and goals. You review that coach's profile by email first and can request a different match before anything is billed.

Is this a fit for a brand-new player in Forest Park?

Yes. Tell STXZ where your player is starting so the match accounts for their level. Beginners work on catching, cradling, and ground balls; experienced players focus on their position.

When do I actually pay?

Once you approve a match and agree on a start date, your invoice arrives by email. It is due in full at least five days before the first lesson. Registration itself requires no payment.

What does it cost in Forest Park?

Rates are per lesson and set for your zip code. Packages of 6 and 12 lessons lower the per-lesson rate, and the booking app accepts any count from 1 to 18. There is a one-time $20 service fee per player.

What if the first session is not a fit?

Contact STXZ within seven days of that lesson and choose a rematch with another coach at no additional charge or a refund of the lesson fees paid. The service fee is not refundable.

Where can we train, and what should we bring?

A backyard, park, or school field within the coach's travel radius, arranged directly with your coach. Bring your stick, protective equipment, and water. Indoor or paid facility charges are yours to cover.

Who are the coaches in Forest Park?

Independent contractors on the STXZ roster, not STXZ employees. Each passes a criminal background check and completes STXZ safety and conduct training before taking a first lesson. Coaching and playing history is provided by the coach, and clients are responsible for vetting their matched coach before booking.
