Where Woodbridge players train, and when

The local season, the programs players come up through, and how private coaching fits around them.

How players come up here

The programs a Woodbridge player moves through, youngest first.

  1. PreK to grade 2

    Entry-level rec and clinic play

Younger players in the Woodbridge area enter the game through local rec programs and clinics that run March through mid-June. These entry points focus on basic stick skills and small-sided games, giving kids a low-pressure introduction before they move into organized league competition.

  2. Grades 3 to 8

    Junior league travel seasons

Middle school boys in the Woodbridge corridor compete through the North Jersey Junior Lacrosse League, the US Lacrosse-affiliated league covering northern New Jersey through 8th grade. Girls programs connect to the New Jersey Junior Girls Lacrosse League, offering a full travel season from 3rd grade through mid-May.

  3. High school

    NJSIAA spring season

High school lacrosse is an NJSIAA spring sport. Practices open in March, league games run through April and May, and the state tournament begins in late May and closes in early June. Woodbridge-area players compete in a landscape that includes strong programs throughout Middlesex and Union counties.

  4. Summer and fall

    Club and travel tournament play

After the high school season ends, club and travel teams take over through summer and into fall. Tri-State Lacrosse runs travel teams, camps, and clinics for boys across the region. Weekend tournaments keep competitive players sharp and give younger athletes exposure to higher-level competition before the next spring.

Where private coaching fits

How families in and around Woodbridge use an independent coach.

When families book

Woodbridge families most often book private coaching in January and February before spring tryouts, and again over the summer ahead of club tournaments. Coaches travel directly to the family, so no commute is needed.

Fields families use

Your backyard, a local park, or your club's field: you and your coach settle it directly, anywhere inside their travel radius.

Can I pick the coach I want?

STXZ matches you with an independent coach based on your location, the player's level, position, and goals. You review that coach's profile by email first and can request a different match before anything is billed.

Is this a fit for a brand-new player in Woodbridge?

Yes. Tell STXZ where your player is starting so the match accounts for their level. Beginners work on catching, cradling, and ground balls; experienced players focus on their position.

When do I actually pay?

Once you approve a match and agree on a start date, your invoice arrives by email. It is due in full at least five days before the first lesson. Registration itself requires no payment.

What does it cost in Woodbridge?

Rates are per lesson and set for your zip code. Packages of 6 and 12 lessons lower the per-lesson rate, and the booking app accepts any count from 1 to 18. There is a one-time $20 service fee per player.

What if the first session is not a fit?

Contact STXZ within seven days of that lesson and choose a rematch with another coach at no additional charge or a refund of the lesson fees paid. The service fee is not refundable.

Where can we train, and what should we bring?

A backyard, park, or school field within the coach's travel radius, arranged directly with your coach. Bring your stick, protective equipment, and water. Indoor or paid facility charges are yours to cover.

Who are the coaches in Woodbridge?

Independent contractors on the STXZ roster, not STXZ employees. Each passes a criminal background check and completes STXZ safety and conduct training before taking a first lesson. Coaching and playing history is provided by the coach, and clients are responsible for vetting their matched coach before booking.
