Where Woolwich players train, and when

The local season, the programs players come up through, and how private coaching fits around them.

Woolwich players enter lacrosse through South Jersey youth programs and move into NJSIAA high school play and regional club competition on a spring calendar that mirrors the Philadelphia hub just 17 miles away.

How players come up here

The programs a Woolwich player moves through, youngest first.

  1. Grades K to 2

    First steps in youth lacrosse

Younger players in Woolwich often start through intramural or clinic programs before moving into structured league play. Some local organizations field K-to-4 teams in the Delaware Valley Lacrosse League, giving kids a low-pressure introduction to the game before evaluations begin in late February.

  2. Grades 3 to 8

    Rec and travel league seasons

Boys in grades 3 through 8 compete through SEPYLA-affiliated community programs, and girls in the same grades play through PAGLA, which covers more than 50 clubs across the region. Both associations run a mid-March to late May schedule with weekend games and weeknight practices built around school district lines.

  3. High school

    NJSIAA spring competition

Woolwich high school players compete under NJSIAA on the same spring calendar used across the Philadelphia hub, with practices opening in early March and league games running through mid-May into state playoffs. Private coaching in January and February helps players prepare for tryouts and secure roster spots.

  4. Summer and fall

    Club and travel tournament play

Club and travel seasons run June through July and return in the fall, with tryouts in June and July and weekend tournaments across the region. Organizations including Forge Lacrosse Club, Mesa, and Duke's Lacrosse Club hold tryouts near the hub, and Be Your Best runs summer skills camps for grades K through 9.

Where private coaching fits

How families in and around Woolwich use an independent coach.

When families book

A coach travels directly to your family in Woolwich or a nearby town, so there is no commute added to an already full schedule. Families here most often book ahead of late-February evaluations or in July before fall ball resumes.

Fields families use

Your backyard, a local park, or your club's field: you and your coach settle it directly, anywhere inside their travel radius.

Can I pick the coach I want?

STXZ matches you with an independent coach based on your location, the player's level, position, and goals. You review that coach's profile by email first and can request a different match before anything is billed.

Is this a fit for a brand-new player in Woolwich?

Yes. Tell STXZ where your player is starting so the match accounts for their level. Beginners work on catching, cradling, and ground balls; experienced players focus on their position.

When do I actually pay?

Once you approve a match and agree on a start date, your invoice arrives by email. It is due in full at least five days before the first lesson. Registration itself requires no payment.

What does it cost in Woolwich?

Rates are per lesson and set for your zip code. Packages of 6 and 12 lessons lower the per-lesson rate, and the booking app accepts any count from 1 to 18. There is a one-time $20 service fee per player.

What if the first session is not a fit?

Contact STXZ within seven days of that lesson and choose a rematch with another coach at no additional charge or a refund of the lesson fees paid. The service fee is not refundable.

Where can we train, and what should we bring?

A backyard, park, or school field within the coach's travel radius, arranged directly with your coach. Bring your stick, protective equipment, and water. Indoor or paid facility charges are yours to cover.

Who are the coaches in Woolwich?

Independent contractors on the STXZ roster, not STXZ employees. Each passes a criminal background check and completes STXZ safety and conduct training before taking a first lesson. Coaching and playing history is provided by the coach, and clients are responsible for vetting their matched coach before booking.
