Where Union City players train, and when

The local season, the programs players come up through, and how private coaching fits around them.

Union City families reach Atlanta's lacrosse programs through nearby GHSA feeder districts and club travel teams, with the coach coming to them rather than requiring a long drive north.

How players come up here

The programs a Union City player moves through, youngest first.

  1. PreK to grade 8

    Rec entry through Surge Lacrosse

Younger players in the Union City area typically start through Surge Lacrosse's K to 8th grade rec league in Atlanta, which gives families nearby a straightforward entry point before kids move toward age-group or school-based teams.

  2. Middle school

    Feeder teams and league play

Middle schoolers mostly play through high school district feeder programs and age-group teams, with the Atlanta Lacrosse League adding fall middle school divisions. Players from Union City typically join whichever feeder program lines up with their eventual high school district.

  3. High school

    GHSA season, January to May

GHSA sanctions boys and girls lacrosse in three divisions, with practice opening in mid-January, matches starting in early February, and state finals in mid-May. Programs like Westminster, Lovett, Pace Academy, and Marist compete at the Division 1 level.

  4. Summer and fall

    Club and travel play

Club and travel options including Team 91 Georgia, Dirty Birds, Atlanta Aces, and Atlanta Surge Select run fall tournaments through summer events once the high school season ends, with tryouts often held in July for families ready to commit to travel play.

Where private coaching fits

How families in and around Union City use an independent coach.

When families book

The coach travels to Union City or nearby towns for every session, and families here most often set up private coaching before GHSA practice opens in January or during the summer club tournament stretch.

Fields families use

Your backyard, a local park, or your club's field: you and your coach settle it directly, anywhere inside their travel radius.

Can I pick the coach I want?

STXZ matches you with an independent coach based on your location, the player's level, position, and goals. You review that coach's profile by email first and can request a different match before anything is billed.

Is this a fit for a brand-new player in Union City?

Yes. Tell STXZ where your player is starting so the match accounts for their level. Beginners work on catching, cradling, and ground balls; experienced players focus on their position.

When do I actually pay?

Once you approve a match and agree on a start date, your invoice arrives by email. It is due in full at least five days before the first lesson. Registration itself requires no payment.

What does it cost in Union City?

Rates are per lesson and set for your zip code. Packages of 6 and 12 lessons lower the per-lesson rate, and the booking app accepts any count from 1 to 18. There is a one-time $20 service fee per player.

What if the first session is not a fit?

Contact STXZ within seven days of that lesson and choose a rematch with another coach at no additional charge or a refund of the lesson fees paid. The service fee is not refundable.

Where can we train, and what should we bring?

A backyard, park, or school field within the coach's travel radius, arranged directly with your coach. Bring your stick, protective equipment, and water. Indoor or paid facility charges are yours to cover.

Who are the coaches in Union City?

Independent contractors on the STXZ roster, not STXZ employees. Each passes a criminal background check and completes STXZ safety and conduct training before taking a first lesson. Coaching and playing history is provided by the coach, and clients are responsible for vetting their matched coach before booking.
