Where Ridley players train, and when

How players come up here

The programs a Ridley player moves through, youngest first.

  1. Grades K to 2

    First steps in rec lacrosse

Many Delaware County towns, including those surrounding Ridley, run intramural or clinic programs for kindergarten through second grade, giving the youngest players a low-pressure introduction to the game before they age into the full SEPYLA or PAGLA travel schedule.

  2. Grades 3 to 8

    SEPYLA and PAGLA seasons

Boys in grades 3 through 8 compete in SEPYLA and girls in PAGLA, both running mid-March through late May. Players practice twice on weeknights and play one weekend game per week, building the fundamentals and team habits that carry into high school tryouts.

  3. High school

    Ridley and the PIAA season

Ridley High School is among the Pennsylvania public programs that regularly reach the PIAA tournament. Practices open in early March, Central League play runs through mid-May, District 1 and District 12 playoffs fill late May, and the state tournament concludes in early June at Penn State.

  4. Summer and fall

    Club play and fall ball

After the school season ends, players in the Ridley area can pursue club lacrosse through programs like Delco Lacrosse, with tryouts in June and July and weekend tournaments running through the summer. Fall ball and winter box and indoor clinics keep players active from the fall through February.

Where private coaching fits

How families in and around Ridley use an independent coach.

When families book

Summer is the first big booking window, as families lock in coaching through July and August before fall ball and club tournaments. A second wave follows in January and February when PIAA tryout preparation drives demand. Coaches travel directly to the family.

Fields families use

Your backyard, a local park, or your club's field: you and your coach settle it directly, anywhere inside their travel radius.

Talk to the STXZ team
Can I pick the coach I want?

STXZ matches you with an independent coach based on your location, the player's level, position, and goals. You review that coach's profile by email first and can request a different match before anything is billed.

Is this a fit for a brand-new player in Ridley?

Yes. Tell STXZ where your player is starting so the match accounts for their level. Beginners work on catching, cradling, and ground balls; experienced players focus on their position.

When do I actually pay?

Once you approve a match and agree on a start date, your invoice arrives by email. It is due in full at least five days before the first lesson. Registration itself requires no payment.

What does it cost in Ridley?

Rates are per lesson and set for your zip code. Packages of 6 and 12 lessons lower the per-lesson rate, and the booking app accepts any count from 1 to 18. There is a one-time $20 service fee per player.

What if the first session is not a fit?

Contact STXZ within seven days of that lesson and choose a rematch with another coach at no additional charge or a refund of the lesson fees paid. The service fee is not refundable.

Where can we train, and what should we bring?

A backyard, park, or school field within the coach's travel radius, arranged directly with your coach. Bring your stick, protective equipment, and water. Indoor or paid facility charges are yours to cover.

Who are the coaches in Ridley?

Independent contractors on the STXZ roster, not STXZ employees. Each passes a criminal background check and completes STXZ safety and conduct training before taking a first lesson. Coaching and playing history is provided by the coach, and clients are responsible for vetting their matched coach before booking.
