Where Norcross players train, and when

The local season, the programs players come up through, and how private coaching fits around them.

Norcross sits inside Gwinnett County's growing lacrosse footprint, with players moving from rec and youth leagues into Gwinnett high school programs and the club circuit that follows.

How players come up here

The programs a Norcross player moves through, youngest first.

  1. PreK to grade 8

    Rec entry through Gwinnett programs

Younger players in Norcross typically start in rec-based programs like Newtown Recreation Lacrosse in Johns Creek or the K to 8th grade rec league at Surge Lacrosse in Atlanta, both within reach of Norcross, before moving toward feeder and travel options.

  2. Middle school

Feeder teams and fall league play

Middle schoolers connect with age-group and feeder teams tied to nearby high school districts, and the Atlanta Lacrosse League's fall middle school divisions give Norcross area players another season of games outside the spring high school calendar.

  3. High school

    GHSA season, February through May

GHSA sanctions boys and girls lacrosse across three divisions, with practice opening in mid-January, matches starting in early February, playoffs beginning in late April, and state finals in mid-May, the framework every Gwinnett-area high schooler plays within.

  4. Summer and fall

    Club tryouts and travel season

Players chasing more competition move into club and travel programs such as Team 91 Georgia, Dirty Birds, Atlanta Aces and Atlanta Surge Select, with tryouts often in July and a schedule that runs fall tournaments through summer events.

Where private coaching fits

How families in and around Norcross use an independent coach.

When families book

Families here most often reach out in the weeks before GHSA practice opens in mid-January, getting a jump before matches start in February. STXZ pairs them with an independent coach who comes to the family in Norcross or a nearby town.

Fields families use

Your backyard, a local park, or your club's field: you and your coach settle it directly, anywhere inside their travel radius.

Can I pick the coach I want?

STXZ matches you with an independent coach based on your location, the player's level, position, and goals. You review that coach's profile by email first and can request a different match before anything is billed.

Is this a fit for a brand-new player in Norcross?

Yes. Tell STXZ where your player is starting so the match accounts for their level. Beginners work on catching, cradling, and ground balls; experienced players focus on their position.

When do I actually pay?

Once you approve a match and agree on a start date, your invoice arrives by email. It is due in full at least five days before the first lesson. Registration itself requires no payment.

What does it cost in Norcross?

Rates are per lesson and set for your zip code. Packages of 6 and 12 lessons lower the per-lesson rate, and the booking app accepts any count from 1 to 18. There is a one-time $20 service fee per player.

What if the first session is not a fit?

Contact STXZ within seven days of that lesson and choose a rematch with another coach at no additional charge or a refund of the lesson fees paid. The service fee is not refundable.

Where can we train, and what should we bring?

A backyard, park, or school field within the coach's travel radius, arranged directly with your coach. Bring your stick, protective equipment, and water. Indoor or paid facility charges are yours to cover.

Who are the coaches in Norcross?

Independent contractors on the STXZ roster, not STXZ employees. Each passes a criminal background check and completes STXZ safety and conduct training before taking a first lesson. Coaching and playing history is provided by the coach, and clients are responsible for vetting their matched coach before booking.
