Where Mantua players train, and when

The local season, the programs players come up through, and how private coaching fits around them.

Mantua players develop through a Gloucester County lacrosse scene tied to NJSIAA spring competition and a regional club circuit that stretches across both sides of the Delaware River.

How players come up here

The programs a Mantua player moves through, youngest first.

  1. Grades K to 2

    First steps in the game

Younger players in Mantua enter lacrosse through intramural or clinic programs at the town level before joining organized league play. Some area programs field teams in the Delaware Valley Lacrosse League, giving early-elementary players a first taste of structured competition close to home.

  2. Grades 3 to 8

    Rec and travel league play

Boys in grades 3 through 8 compete in SEPYLA-affiliated programs, while girls in the same grades play through PAGLA, which spans more than 50 clubs across the region. The mid-March to late May schedule runs one weekend game and two weeknight practices each week through the spring.

  3. High school

    NJSIAA spring season

High school lacrosse in New Jersey runs under the NJSIAA on the same spring calendar as Pennsylvania programs, with practices opening in early March, league games through mid-May, and state tournament play extending into June. Mantua-area players compete for Gloucester County programs through that structure.

  4. Summer and fall

    Club and travel competition

After the high school season closes, club and travel play runs June through July, with tryouts and weekend tournaments across the region. Regional clubs hold tryouts during the summer. Fall ball and indoor clinics from December through February fill the off-season and keep players sharp heading into winter.

Where private coaching fits

How families in and around Mantua use an independent coach.

When families book

Independent coaches come directly to the family, so no field rental or facility is needed. Mantua families tend to book sessions in January and February before spring tryouts, and again in July and August ahead of fall ball and club tournament weekends.

Fields families use

Your backyard, a local park, or your club's field: you and your coach settle it directly, anywhere inside their travel radius.

Talk to the STXZ team
Can I pick the coach I want?

STXZ matches you with an independent coach based on your location, the player's level, position, and goals. You review that coach's profile by email first and can request a different match before anything is billed.

Is this a fit for a brand-new player in Mantua?

Yes. Tell STXZ where your player is starting so the match accounts for their level. Beginners work on catching, cradling, and ground balls; experienced players focus on their position.

When do I actually pay?

Once you approve a match and agree on a start date, your invoice arrives by email. It is due in full at least five days before the first lesson. Registration itself requires no payment.

What does it cost in Mantua?

Rates are per lesson and set for your zip code. Packages of 6 and 12 lessons lower the per-lesson rate, and the booking app accepts any count from 1 to 18. There is a one-time $20 service fee per player.

What if the first session is not a fit?

Contact STXZ within seven days of that lesson and choose a rematch with another coach at no additional charge or a refund of the lesson fees paid. The service fee is not refundable.

Where can we train, and what should we bring?

A backyard, park, or school field within the coach's travel radius, arranged directly with your coach. Bring your stick, protective equipment, and water. Indoor or paid facility charges are yours to cover.

Who are the coaches in Mantua?

Independent contractors on the STXZ roster, not STXZ employees. Each passes a criminal background check and completes STXZ safety and conduct training before taking a first lesson. Coaching and playing history is provided by the coach, and clients are responsible for vetting their matched coach before booking.
