Where Florence players train, and when

The local season, the programs players come up through, and how private coaching fits around them.

Florence families entering the NJSIAA spring season and the broader Philadelphia-area club circuit have access to independent coaches who travel directly to them for private sessions.

How players come up here

The programs a Florence player moves through, youngest first.

  1. Grades K to 2

    First steps in the game

The youngest players in the Florence area typically start through local intramural clinics or entry-level programs in Burlington County. These early sessions focus on catching, throwing, and cradling before any structured league play begins, and private coaching at this stage builds comfort with the stick in a low-pressure setting.

  2. Grades 3 to 8

    Rec and travel league play

Boys in grades 3 through 8 compete in SEPYLA, and girls in the same range play through PAGLA, which fields more than 50 clubs across the region. Both associations run a mid-March to late May schedule with weekend games and weeknight practices, giving players in the Florence area a full spring season before high school.

  3. High school

    NJSIAA spring season

High school lacrosse in New Jersey runs under the NJSIAA on the same spring calendar as the Pennsylvania side of the hub. Practices open in early March, league games fill March through mid-May, and postseason play follows. Private coaching in the winter months helps players arrive at tryouts ready to compete for roster spots.

  4. Summer and fall

    Club and travel competition

After the school season, players from the Florence area can pursue club and travel programs including Mesa, Team TEN, Forge Lacrosse Club, and others that hold tryouts in June and July and run tournament weekends through the summer. Winter box and indoor clinics from December through February keep development going year-round.

Where private coaching fits

How families in and around Florence use an independent coach.

When families book

Families in Florence most often reach out in January and February, ahead of spring NJSIAA tryouts, and again in July and August before fall ball and club tournament weekends begin. The coach travels directly to the family.

Fields families use

Your backyard, a local park, or your club's field: you and your coach settle it directly, anywhere inside their travel radius.

Talk to the STXZ team
Can I pick the coach I want?

STXZ matches you with an independent coach based on your location, the player's level, position, and goals. You review that coach's profile by email first and can request a different match before anything is billed.

Is this a fit for a brand-new player in Florence?

Yes. Tell STXZ where your player is starting so the match accounts for their level. Beginners work on catching, cradling, and ground balls; experienced players focus on their position.

When do I actually pay?

Once you approve a match and agree on a start date, your invoice arrives by email. It is due in full at least five days before the first lesson. Registration itself requires no payment.

What does it cost in Florence?

Rates are per lesson and set for your zip code. Packages of 6 and 12 lessons lower the per-lesson rate, and the booking app accepts any count from 1 to 18. There is a one-time $20 service fee per player.

What if the first session is not a fit?

Contact STXZ within seven days of that lesson and choose a rematch with another coach at no additional charge or a refund of the lesson fees paid. The service fee is not refundable.

Where can we train, and what should we bring?

A backyard, park, or school field within the coach's travel radius, arranged directly with your coach. Bring your stick, protective equipment, and water. Indoor or paid facility charges are yours to cover.

Who are the coaches in Florence?

Independent contractors on the STXZ roster, not STXZ employees. Each passes a criminal background check and completes STXZ safety and conduct training before taking a first lesson. Coaching and playing history is provided by the coach, and clients are responsible for vetting their matched coach before booking.
