How players come up here

The programs a Darby player moves through, youngest first.

  1. Grades K to 2

    Intramural and clinic entry

Younger players in Darby get their first touches through kindergarten-to-2nd-grade intramural or clinic programs, some of which also field teams in the Delaware Valley Lacrosse League. These sessions focus on fundamentals and keep the barrier to entry low before players move into full travel play.

  2. Grades 3 to 8

    SEPYLA and PAGLA league play

Boys compete in the Southeastern Pennsylvania Youth Lacrosse Association and girls in the Philadelphia Area Girls Lacrosse Association, both running mid-March to late May with one weekend game and two weeknight practices per week. The leagues are organized along school district lines and carry players through 8th grade.

  3. High school

    Central League and PIAA spring

High school players in Darby's area compete in the Central League in Delaware County under PIAA rules. Practices open in early March, league games run through mid-May, District 12 playoffs fill late May, and the PIAA state tournament runs the first two weeks of June with finals at Penn State.

  4. Summer and fall

    Club, travel, and indoor work

Club and travel play runs June through July and again in the fall, with tryouts in June and July and weekend tournaments across the region. Clubs like Delco Lacrosse, Duke's Lacrosse Club, and Forge Lacrosse Club serve this area. Winter box and indoor clinics run December through February.

Fields families use

Your backyard, a local park, or your club's field: you and your coach settle it directly, anywhere inside their travel radius.

Can I pick the coach I want?

STXZ matches you with an independent coach based on your location, the player's level, position, and goals. You review that coach's profile by email first and can request a different match before anything is billed.

Is this a fit for a brand-new player in Darby?

Yes. Tell STXZ where your player is starting so the match accounts for their level. Beginners work on catching, cradling, and ground balls; experienced players focus on their position.

When do I actually pay?

Once you approve a match and agree on a start date, your invoice arrives by email. It is due in full at least five days before the first lesson. Registration itself requires no payment.

What does it cost in Darby?

Rates are per lesson and set for your zip code. Packages of 6 and 12 lessons lower the per-lesson rate, and the booking app accepts any count from 1 to 18. There is a one-time $20 service fee per player.

What if the first session is not a fit?

Contact STXZ within seven days of that lesson and choose a rematch with another coach at no additional charge or a refund of the lesson fees paid. The service fee is not refundable.

Where can we train, and what should we bring?

A backyard, park, or school field within the coach's travel radius, arranged directly with your coach. Bring your stick, protective equipment, and water. Indoor or paid facility charges are yours to cover.

Who are the coaches in Darby?

Independent contractors on the STXZ roster, not STXZ employees. Each passes a criminal background check and completes STXZ safety and conduct training before taking a first lesson. Coaching and playing history is provided by the coach, and clients are responsible for vetting their matched coach before booking.
