Where Chester County players train, and when

The local season, the programs players come up through, and how private coaching fits around them.

Chester County is one of the deepest lacrosse markets west of Philadelphia, with youth programs, Ches-Mont League competition, and club travel teams giving players a clear path from rec play through the PIAA tournament.

How players come up here

The programs a Chester County player moves through, youngest first.

  1. Grades K to 2

    First steps in rec lacrosse

Many Chester County towns run intramural or clinic programs for kindergarten through 2nd grade, and some field teams in the Delaware Valley Lacrosse League. These early sessions focus on basic stick skills and movement, giving young players a low-pressure introduction before they age into full travel competition.

  2. Grades 3 to 8

    SEPYLA and PAGLA league play

Boys in Chester County compete through SEPYLA and girls through PAGLA from grades 3 to 8, with programs like Conestoga Youth Lacrosse and Avon Grove Wildcats anchoring the area. The schedule runs mid-March to late May, with one weekend game and two weeknight practices per week through the end of the school year.

  3. High school

    Ches-Mont League and PIAA playoffs

Conestoga, Henderson, Downingtown, Avon Grove, and Bishop Shanahan are among the Chester County programs that compete in the Ches-Mont League and regularly advance to District 1 playoffs in late May. The PIAA state tournament runs through the first two weeks of June, with the championship held at Penn State.

  4. Summer and fall

    Club tryouts and travel tournaments

After the high school season ends, Chester County players move into club and travel lacrosse with programs like Mesa, Forge Lacrosse Club, and Dynasty Elite holding tryouts in June and July. Tournament weekends run through the summer and fall, and winter box and indoor clinics from December through February keep players sharp year-round.

Can I pick the coach I want?

STXZ matches you with an independent coach based on your location, the player's level, position, and goals. You review that coach's profile by email first and can request a different match before anything is billed.

Is this a fit for a brand-new player in Chester County?

Yes. Tell STXZ where your player is starting so the match accounts for their level. Beginners work on catching, cradling, and ground balls; experienced players focus on their position.

When do I actually pay?

Once you approve a match and agree on a start date, your invoice arrives by email. It is due in full at least five days before the first lesson. Registration itself requires no payment.

What does it cost in Chester County?

Rates are per lesson and set for your zip code. Packages of 6 and 12 lessons lower the per-lesson rate, and the booking app accepts any count from 1 to 18. There is a one-time $20 service fee per player.

What if the first session is not a fit?

Contact STXZ within seven days of that lesson and choose a rematch with another coach at no additional charge or a refund of the lesson fees paid. The service fee is not refundable.

Where can we train, and what should we bring?

A backyard, park, or school field within the coach's travel radius, arranged directly with your coach. Bring your stick, protective equipment, and water. Indoor or paid facility charges are yours to cover.

Who are the coaches in Chester County?

Independent contractors on the STXZ roster, not STXZ employees. Each passes a criminal background check and completes STXZ safety and conduct training before taking a first lesson. Coaching and playing history is provided by the coach, and clients are responsible for vetting their matched coach before booking.
