Where Livingston players train, and when

The local season, the programs players come up through, and how private coaching fits around them.

Livingston lacrosse players move through a full Essex County calendar, from rec entry programs in the spring to club travel on summer and fall weekends, with the NJSIAA tournament as the high school finish line.

How players come up here

The programs a Livingston player moves through, youngest first.

  1. Elementary school

    Rec and town entry programs

Town recreation programs across Essex County feed the same youth leagues that serve Livingston-area families. Girls can enter as early as PreK through clinic formats, while boys programs follow the same March-through-mid-June season, giving young players a structured first look at the game before middle school league play begins.

  2. Middle school

    Junior league competition

Boys programs in the Livingston area compete in the North Jersey Junior Lacrosse League, the US Lacrosse-affiliated league covering northern New Jersey through eighth grade. Girls compete in the New Jersey Junior Girls Lacrosse League, which provides a full travel season from third grade and runs through the end of May.

  3. High school

    NJSIAA spring season

High school lacrosse in New Jersey is a spring sport under the NJSIAA. Practices open in March, league games run through April and May, and the state tournament begins in late May and finishes in early June. Programs across Essex County and the surrounding region regularly reach the tournament field.

  4. Summer and fall

    Club and travel play

Club and travel lacrosse runs through the summer and into fall, with tournament weekends keeping players sharp in the off-season. Tri-State Lacrosse runs travel teams, camps, and clinics for boys across the region, and the fall ball and indoor winter clinic calendar fills the gap before the spring NJSIAA season restarts.

Where private coaching fits

How families in and around Livingston use an independent coach.

When families book

Livingston families most often book in January and February before spring tryouts, and again over the summer ahead of club tournament season. The coach travels to the family, so sessions fit around school and activity schedules.

Fields families use

Your backyard, a local park, or your club's field: you and your coach settle it directly, anywhere inside their travel radius.

Can I pick the coach I want?

STXZ matches you with an independent coach based on your location, the player's level, position, and goals. You review that coach's profile by email first and can request a different match before anything is billed.

Is this a fit for a brand-new player in Livingston?

Yes. Tell STXZ where your player is starting so the match accounts for their level. Beginners work on catching, cradling, and ground balls; experienced players focus on their position.

When do I actually pay?

Once you approve a match and agree on a start date, your invoice arrives by email. It is due in full at least five days before the first lesson. Registration itself requires no payment.

What does it cost in Livingston?

Rates are per lesson and set for your zip code. Packages of 6 and 12 lessons lower the per-lesson rate, and the booking app accepts any count from 1 to 18. There is a one-time $20 service fee per player.

What if the first session is not a fit?

Contact STXZ within seven days of that lesson and choose a rematch with another coach at no additional charge or a refund of the lesson fees paid. The service fee is not refundable.

Where can we train, and what should we bring?

A backyard, park, or school field within the coach's travel radius, arranged directly with your coach. Bring your stick, protective equipment, and water. Indoor or paid facility charges are yours to cover.

Who are the coaches in Livingston?

Independent contractors on the STXZ roster, not STXZ employees. Each passes a criminal background check and completes STXZ safety and conduct training before taking a first lesson. Coaching and playing history is provided by the coach, and clients are responsible for vetting their matched coach before booking.
